First things first, what are microsites? For those of you that don't know, a microsite is a web page or group of pages that are separate from a main website, but supplement it somehow. They serve a more specific purpose than the broader scope of the main site. Whether or not you should launch one really depends on its purpose. There are a few cases in which a microsite is a good idea, such as when a site is created to support a brand that is an extension of a parent company or when a company is running a special event or promotion. In all of these cases, there is enough sufficient content to justify setting up a microsite.

Misspellings Won't Help Your SEO

While people are careful and spell check formal documents, they tend to not be so cautious when shooting their friend a quick email or text. They also don't worry about spelling when they type a query into a search engine. If they don't know how to spell a word, they type in how they think it is spelled. In most cases, they don't even know that they are misspelling the word. For example, "calander" gets 450,000 Local (U.S.) monthly searches per Google's keyword tool. Sure, it isn't as many as the 30,400,000 that the correctly spelled "calendar" gets, but 450,000 searches is a lot. SEOs took advantage of that and included misspelled keywords in the content of web pages, meta tags, and anchor text. Was this a spammy tactic? Yes, but it worked.
